Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that helps strengthen and promote healthy tooth enamel and battle against cavities. Our fluoride treatments are much higher in dosage then over the counter options, which we’ll apply at the end of your child’s dental appointment.
Children are more susceptible to cavities and tooth decay because they tend to eat more sugary foods throughout the day and aren’t cleaning their teeth as well as adults typically do. Despite our best efforts and education, cavities may find their way in. To combat this, we apply a thin layer of plastic which coats the hard-to-reach molars. Sealants are one of the most effective ways to remain cavity free!
If a baby tooth is missing due to injury or disease, it can cause the surrounding teeth to shift out of place. This shift in the baby teeth can cause future problems like crowding and crookedness. To prevent this, we can place a temporary space maintainer in the gap to keep teeth in alignment until their permanent teeth come in. Some permanent teeth don’t come in until 12 to 14 years of age!
